India and Israel have elevated their ties to a “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation and Prosperity”, marking a new phase of deepened cooperation. During the recent high-level visit, 16 MoUs were signed across defence, technology, agriculture, and digital economy.
Salient Features: A key focus is the early conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to boost trade and investment. The expansion of UPI in Israel (via NPCI–MASAV partnership) reflects India’s growing digital footprint. Defence ties are shifting from a buyer–seller model to co-development and joint production, enhancing self-reliance. The launch of the iCET initiative strengthens collaboration in AI, semiconductors, and quantum technologies. Cooperation in cyber security, agriculture (IINCA), water management, and labour mobility (50,000 workers quota) further diversifies engagement. Both sides also support connectivity frameworks like IMEC and I2U2.
