Context
On 31 August 2026, the Court of Arbitration administered by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), The Hague, issued an award on the status of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and interim measures concerning India’s Ratle Hydroelectric Project. India has consistently rejected this arbitral process as being contrary to the Treaty framework.
