Proposed Polysilicon Manufacturing Support — Strengthening India’s Solar Supply Chain
Context: India is considering deeper policy support for domestic polysilicon and upstream solar manufacturing as part of its effort to reduce dependence on imported solar inputs. Polysilicon is highly purified silicon used to manufacture ingots and wafers, which are subsequently converted into solar cells and modules. However, a separate, formally notified “Polysilicon Subsidy Scheme” with fixed subsidy rates has not yet been officially announced.
