TAPAS-1: India’s First Dedicated Commercial Private Thermal-Imaging Payload
Context: India’s private space sector marked an important milestone with the launch of TAPAS-1 (Thermal Access Platform for Analytics & Solutions), developed by SatLeo Labs. It was launched aboard Dhruva Space’s LEAP-2 satellite on SpaceX’s Transporter-18 mission using a Falcon 9 rocket. The mission lifted off from Vandenberg on 2 October 2026 IST, and LEAP-2 was successfully deployed into orbit shortly afterwards.
