Salient Points
1. Background and History: World Students’ Day is popularly observed on 15 October to honour Dr. Kalam’s commitment to education, scientific curiosity and youth empowerment. Although its origin is sometimes attributed to 2010, no authoritative evidence establishes an official UN declaration.
2. United Nations Recognition: World Students’ Day is not an officially recognised UN international day. The UN formally observes 15 October as the International Day of Rural Women, established through General Assembly Resolution 62/136 in 2007.
