1. Area of Any Triangle
The area of any triangle can be calculated using the formula Area = (Base × Height) ÷ 2. In this formula, the base is any side of the triangle, and the height is the perpendicular distance from the opposite vertex to that base. This is the most common and widely used method for finding the area of a triangle. It works for all types of triangles, including acute, obtuse, and right triangles. 2. Area of an Obtuse Triangle
An obtuse triangle is a triangle with one angle greater than 90 degrees. The area of an obtuse triangle is calculated using the same formula as any other triangle: Area = (Base × Height) ÷ 2. In this case, the height may fall outside the triangle, so the base is often extended to measure the perpendicular height correctly. Even though the shape appears different, the mathematical principle remains unchanged. Understanding how to identify the height in an obtuse triangle is important for accurate calculations. This formula is commonly used in geometry, engineering, and construction measurements.
3. Area of a Right Triangle
A right triangle contains one angle equal to 90 degrees. The two sides that form the right angle are perpendicular to each other and can be used as the base and height. Therefore, its area is calculated using Area = (Base × Height) ÷ 2. This formula is simple because the required height is already one of the triangle's sides. Right triangles are widely used in mathematics, architecture, engineering, and physics. The area represents the amount of space enclosed by the triangle. Understanding right triangles is essential because they form the basis of trigonometry and geometric calculations.
