Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his 80th Independence Day address to combine a reform agenda with a direct outreach to Generation Z. He promised accelerated reforms, expansion of Artificial Intelligence programmes and AI-skilling opportunities, arguing that technological competence will be central to India’s future. He referred to the government’s digital public infrastructure and proposed greater exposure of students to emerging technologies. Addressing anxieties among young people, he also highlighted employment, sports and opportunities for innovation. The larger logic is that India’s demographic dividend can yield results only when education and skills remain aligned with technological transformation. His address additionally stressed manufacturing, defence preparedness, food processing, biotechnology, semiconductors and space-sector participation. The underlying governmental stand is one of technology-driven self-reliance supported by private enterprise and domestic capability. For UPSC purposes, the speech links demographic dividend, AI skilling, digital public infrastructure, employment generation, Atmanirbharta and economic reform within a common developmental framework.
