The U.S. State Department has approved a possible sale of 48 F-35 fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia, valued at about $24.3 billion. The proposed package also includes 49 Pratt & Whitney engines, communications equipment, spares and logistical support. The approval has been notified to the U.S. Congress, so it is not yet a completed sale.
